Continuous Access XP for the XP1024/XP128
CAUTION:
Do not use this option when deleting pairs at the RCU during disaster recovery. This
option is available only when one pair is selected.
• C/T (RCU only): The RCU deletes all Continuous Access XP Async pairs with the same consistency
time.
• LU (MCU or RCU): The MCU and RCU deletes only the specified Continuous Access XP Async
pairs. Use this option to remove individual volumes from consistency groups.
Defaults are as follows:
• More than one pair selected: LU
• One pair selected and pair is P-VOL: Group
• One pair selected and pair is S-VOL: C/T
NOTE:
When an asynchronous pair is forcibly deleted, the Continuous Access XP delete range option
must be Group. Therefore, more than one pair cannot be forcibly deleted.
1.
Connect to the MCU or RCU of the pairs to be deleted, and start Continuous Access XP. If you plan to
use the Continuous Access XP Async C/T delete range option, connect to the RCU.
2.
From the CU Number/Port Number tree on the Continuous Access XP main pane, click the number of
the correct CU image.
3.
From the Volume list, click the Continuous Access XP volume pairs. Select either Continuous Access XP
Sync or Async pairs, but not both. If you plan to use the Continuous Access XP Async C/T or Group
delete range option, select only one Continuous Access XP Async pair in the group.
4.
Right-click, and click Pairsplit-S. The Pairsplit-S pane appears.
5.
Click the pairsplit-S options for selected pairs, and click Set to close the Pairsplit-S pane and set
parameters. The list changes to the Pair Settings Parameter list (Pairsplit-S). Repeat this step as needed
to set pairsplit-S options for pairs.
NOTE:
After being set, options can be modified and canceled (see ”
6.
To execute the pairsplit-S requests quickly, select the Use Time-Saving Mode check box above the Pair
Settings Parameter list (Pairsplit-S).
7.
Click Apply on the Continuous Access XP main pane to delete the specified pairs.
8.
When deleting Continuous Access XP Asynchronous pairs, verify that the pairsplit-S request completed
successfully by checking the detailed Continuous Access XP pair status information on the Pairdisplay
pane (should be SMPL, not Deleting or Suspended).
When deleting Continuous Access XP Sync pairs, verify that the pairsplit-S request completed
successfully by checking the pair status on the Pair Operation tab (SMPL status).
9.
To restart a pair deleted from the RCU, delete the pair from the MCU, and use the Paircreate
command with the appropriate Continuous Access XP initial copy option (Entire or No Copy) to restart
the pair.
CAUTION:
If a timeout error occurs when the Use Time-Saving Mode option is selected, access the
Continuous Access XP main pane, and confirm the volumes on which the pairsplit-S operation could not
be performed. Deselect the Use Time-Saving Mode option for failed volumes, and retry the pairsplit-S
operation.
