Storage Administrator and Storage Partition Administrator
Privileges
To use HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console, you need a user account. The user account of Remote
Web Console contains the following information.
• User ID
• User type
• Password
• Operation authority
For Remote Web Console, the user account of administrator is initially set. The password of user ID
administrator is administrator by default. By default, the operation authority for all functions of Remote
Web Console and program product options is given to the user account of user ID administrator. You
cannot delete the user account of user ID Administrator. You may register up to 500 user accounts
including the user account of user ID Administrator for Remote Web Console.
You have to set user ID, user type and password when you enter a user account. An operation authority
can be set for each registered user account. To register the user account, or to set an operation authority,
use the Account window. For further information on the procedures of registering the user account

The administrators of storage systems are categorized into two types, the storage administrator and the
storage partition administrator. The storage administrator may logical partition the storage system and the
cache memory by creating SLPRs and CLPRs. The storage administrator may manage the entire storage
system and all resources in the storage system, for example, SLPRs, ports, CLPRs and parity groups. As
shown in Figure 3 on page 18, the storage administrator may manage all resources of SLPR1 and SLPR2.
The storage partition administrators are not permitted to create an SLPR and a CLPR. The storage partition
administrators are not permitted to manage the entire subsystem, but they can manage the specified SLPR.
As shown in Figure 3 on page 18, the storage partition administrator for SLPR1 may manage only the
resources of SLPR1, but he/she cannot manage the resources of SLPR2 (port C and CLPR3). On the other
hand, the storage partition administrator of SLPR2 may manage only the resources of SLPR2, but he/she
cannot manage the resources of SLPR1 (port A, port B, CLPR1 and CLPR2). For further information on
