4.
To edit these settings, click Edit Network.
The Edit Network window appears.
5.
On the Overview tab, make any necessary changes. When all changes are complete, click
Apply. If additional changes are required on other tabs, click the appropriate tab. When
finished, click OK.
Viewing network endpoints (Endpoints tab)
The Endpoints tab shows two content panes.
The top pane only shows network endpoints that are of interest to SPM and its users and not a
complete view of the network. To see a complete view of the network and its topology please
access the network device manager responsible for the network.
Endpoints of interest are those endpoints that are used by any resources that are imported into
SPM or are depended upon by an SPM service. As soon as all resources that use an endpoint are
removed and all SPM services that use the endpoint are removed the endpoint is also removed
from the corresponding network in SPM’s catalog. This in no way affects any actual network device
resources outside of SPM but is an intuitive way to show what endpoints are being used by
resources/services in SPM.
NOTE:
Networking plug-ins claim endpoints when they are imported into SPM. If an endpoint
is claimed by multiple networks, the last network to make the claim will be awarded the endpoint.
The bottom pane shows the resources that are using or are dependent on the network endpoint in
question.
To view the endpoints of a network:
1.
In the Navigation tree, select Networks under the Resources heading.
The list of available networks appears in the content pane.
2.
From the content pane, select the appropriate network.
The properties for the selected network are displayed.
3.
Click the Endpoints tab.
The endpoint settings are displayed.
NOTE:
Select an endpoint in the list to view the storage resources using that endpoint.
NOTE:
SPM only displays endpoints on the network that are in use by an array or a storage
service in the SPM catalog.
Viewing network zones (Zones tab)
The Zones tab shows two content panes.
The top pane as with endpoints only shows network zones that are of interest to SPM and its users
and not a complete view of the network. To see a complete view of the network and its topology
please access the network device manager responsible for the network.
Zones of interest are those zones that are being used/depended upon by any SPM service. As
soon as all SPM services that used/depended upon the service are deactivated/removed the zones
are also removed from the corresponding network in SPM’s catalog. The same zones that were
removed from SPM because services no longer depended upon them will also be removed from
the underlying network via the network device manager if this is a managed network. Managed
networks are defined as those networks that SPM provides zoning automation for. (The networks
have a network device manager that SPM actively communicates with.)
The bottom pane shows the endpoints that belong to any of the zones in question.
