8.0 System Expansions
System expansions will involve any combination of the following activities. These are covered in detail in the
previous sections of this Operators Manual. Refer to the following Checklist (Items 1 – 4) and their associated
reference sections.
1) Adding new I/O modules - See Section 3.1 on “Installing the I/O Modules”
2) Connecting to the new I/O Modules - Section 3.2 on “Connecting to the I/O Modules”
3) Setting Device Identification on the I/O Modules – See Section 4.2 on “Setting Device Identification on
the I/O Modules”
4) Configuration of the new gas sensors and relay outputs:
Select Active # of Channels and Relays – Section 5.3.1
Odbus™ Addressing and Relay Set-up – Section 5.3.2
Select Gas Type and Range – Section 5.3.3
Set Active Alarm Levels – Section 5.3.4
View Tag Information Section 5.3.6
9.0 Troubleshooting
Problem: No Communications
Check that all I/O Modules and Modbus™ gas sensors are properly addressed at the 1600/6400 (Section 5.3.2)
and that they match device ID’s on the I/O Module and/or the Modbus™ gas sensors.
Do not have address’s entered for 4-20mA outputs if there are no AO-4 Modules connected.
Ensure that there are no duplications of device # and address # at the 1600/6400 or at the I/O Modules and
Modbus™ gas sensors.
NOTE: Device numbers at the 1600/6400 are in decimal format, while device numbers at the I/O
Modules and the Modbus™ gas sensors are in hexadecimal format.
