10.1 Programming the Data Shuttle
Ramping requirements and other controller settings are loaded into the Shuttle by the
Launch Pad software.
10.2 Triggering the Data Shuttle
Before the Data Shuttle is connected to the controller, the LED should be flashing every
five seconds and be loaded with the desired controller settings including the ramping
information from Launch Pad. When the Shuttle is first connected to the controller, the
LED will turn ON for about a second, then OFF as shown in Figure 1. This pattern will
be repeated every five seconds until the Data Shuttle is triggered.
To begin ramping, press the START button and hold for at least four (4) seconds. While
the START button is depressed the LED will flash once every second. The user can
count these flashes to ensure that at least four seconds have passed. The LED will stay
on almost continuously after triggering. The Data Shuttle can also be used to record
temperature data while providing ramping.
The Data Shuttle should remain connected to the controller in order for ramping to
occur. However, if the Shuttle is removed from the controller, it can be reconnected and
will begin ramping based on the target temperature read from the controller.
11 Battery Replacement
The 3.6 volt lithium battery is located in the lower left hand
corner of the data Shuttle. Under normal operation the
battery will last for about two years, although it is
recommended that the battery be replaced every year. To
replace the battery, remove the four Phillips head screws at
each corner of the case and remove the faceplate. Replace
the battery with Hired Hand Product #3041-5000. The
battery leads must be cut to the length shown in the
following section. When installing the battery, verify the
correct polarity. The positive (+) side must be placed to the
top of the unit and the minus (-) side to the bottom.
11.1 Preparing the Battery Leads
Prepare the battery leads as shown by cutting the
leads so the length from the side of the battery to
the lead end is 7/32
inches.
The battery may be
replaced while the Data
Shuttle is recording. Data already recorded on the Data Shuttle
will not be lost and the Shuttle will continue to record after
battery replacement. If the Data Shuttle is connected to an
external probe or to a Farm Hand controller, the Data Shuttle
may be left attached during battery replacement.
