¾ Green LED, Flashing Orange: This indicates that the 900SS module is receiving data but the control
may not be getting the data or responding. Check wiring and control for proper operation. Replace
network chip in control 3540-0149. Replace network chip in 900SS, located under the front board. This
isn’t the same chip that is used in the control, (HHI Part Number 3540-0168). The part number on the chip
is LTC1483IN8. The Part Number used in the controls is 3540-0149 and the part number on the chip is
LTC1483CN8.
8.3 Signal Loss between 900SS Radios.
Signal loss is normally caused by an object blocking all or part of the radio signal. On a new installation
objects such as Feed Bins or other curved objects can cause the most interference. Metal roofs can cause
interference, but in most cases the 900SS Radio can be mounted far enough off or high enough to
overcome the roof interference. Elevation drop between the 900SS Radios can also cause interference.
The only way to overcome a drop in elevation is to mount the lower 900SS Radio as high as possible to
improve the LOS condition. Trees should be taken into consideration especially if the radios are installed
in the fall or winter when the leaves are off. When the trees bloom in the spring, the foliage could block
the signal. It is a good idea to keep the 900SS Modules mounted lower than the top of the feed bins or
peak of the roofs. This will help to reduce the risk of lighting damage. The Wireless Tuning software is
the best way to verify that the signal is good.
