Important safety instructions

OPTIMAX™ 3000
Fluorescent Leak Detection LED Flashlight
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
•
The OPTIMAX 3000 must be fully charged before first use.
•
CAUTION: Use only the battery charger packed with the flashlight.
Do not attempt to use the charger to recharge any other product.
•
Use
only the 125608 battery stick (see Replacement Parts).
•
NiMH and Ni-Cd batteries are close cousins. The chemistry is
similar. The difference is NiMH batteries are nontoxic and there is
no memory loss from short cycling.
•
The OPTIMAX 3000 is not approved for use in hazardous
atmospheres. Do not attempt to use it in areas requiring
explosion-proof
lighting.
CHARGING AND USE
The OPTIMAX 3000 is available with different chargers.
See Replacement Parts.
•
Fully charge your OPTIMAX 3000 before first use.
•
Insert the smart charger (AC and DC supplied) into the tailcap of
the OPTIMAX 3000 and attach the plug to the corresponding power
source. A full charge will take approximately four hours.
The flashlight can operate for approximately one and one-half hours
after a full charge.
•
The smart charger indicator light will show RED while charging
and GREEN when the charge is complete and the lamp is ready
for use.
•
Press the switch to light and use the OPTIMAX 3000.
CARE AND USE OF NICKEL-METAL HYDRIDE (NiMH) BATTERIES
•
Do not charge the battery stick when the temperature is below
32°F (0°C) or above 105°F (40°C). The life of the battery stick is
affected by charging in temperature extremes.
•
If the batteries are not used for approximately 30 to 60 days they
will discharge completely. This is normal. They must then be
recharged before use.
•
Do not subject these batteries to repeated deep discharges that run
the batteries down completely on a regular basis.
•
Regular deep discharging is unnecessary and will greatly shorten
flashlight and battery life.
•
NiMH batteries are clearly the best choice as there is no voltage
sag until the last 10% of charge. This means the lamp will operate
for better than 90% of the battery's rated capacity. No other battery
chemistry will deliver like this under heavy use. With no toxic lead
or mercury, and a life expectancy of 400 cycles or more, provided
the battery stick is not overcharged, NiMH batteries are better for
the
environment.
WARNING: Be sure to use genuine OPTIMAX 3000 replacement
parts. Using another manufacturer's replacement parts could affect
product performance and will void the warranty.
LEAK DETECTION
1. Turn off the engine.
2. Add fluorescent dye to the system. For best results, use
OEM-approved, super-bright Tracerline
®
Fluoro-Lite
®
and
Dye-Lite
®
dyes. See instructions included with dyes.
3. Start the engine and run the system for 5 to 10 minutes to circulate
the
dye.
4. Turn off the engine. Put on the glasses supplied. Scan the system
with the lamp. Leaks will show with a bright fluorescent glow.
Use the lamp in low-light conditions for best performance.
IMPORTANT
You must wear the yellow fluorescence-enhancing
glasses supplied with the lamp to see leaks clearly.
The glow will show best under low light conditions.
