Installation Instructions

Procedure

1. Install a close fit 2" threaded nipple (field supplied) into the existing pipe.
2. Install the reducer coupling onto the threaded nipple.

Note: Use thread sealant on all threaded connections.

Use Teflon

®

Tape or “Pipe Dope” to form a

vapor-tight seal.

3. Hang the plate & chain assembly on the machined

recess inside of the adapter.

4. Adjust the chain length and wing nut position so that the

probe is suspended 1⁄4" above the tank bottom (refer to the

ATG Installation Manual for more information).

5. Insert the probe wire through the wire grip nut, the

adapter ring assembly and its grommet so that the end

of the probe plug is on the inside of the service kit.

6. Make all of the connections and test the probe.
7. Seal the plug cover into the reducer coupling.

Make sure that the wire leads through the wire

grip are loose and don’t rotate with the cover

when tightening the plug.

8. Tighten the wire grip nut to 75-100 in. lbs. of

torque to secure the cable.

9. Retest the probe function.

Follow all federal, state and local laws governing the installation of this product and its associated

systems. When no other regulations apply, follow NFPA codes 30, 30A and 70 from the National Fire

Protection Association. Failure to follow these codes could result in severe injury, death, serious

property damage and/or environmental contamination.
Always secure the work area from moving vehicles. The equipment in this guide is usually mounted

underground, so reduced visibility puts service personnel working on this equipment in danger

from moving vehicles entering the work area. To help eliminate these unsafe conditions, secure

the area by using a service truck to block access to the work environment, or by using any other

reasonable means available to ensure the safety of service personnel.
