a. For a single A08S RAID system, two of the eight disks will be designated as the metadata
volumes and set to raid level R1. The remaining six of the eight disks will be designated as the
data volumes and set to the raid level of your choice in the RAID LEVEL field above.
b. For two A08S RAID systems, both systems will be configured as described above. As the result,
four volumes will be presented to your SAN management software. The two smaller 2-disk
volumes are striped or mirrored to form your metadata volume, while the two larger 6-disk
volumes are striped to form your data volume.
c. For three A08S RAID systems, all three systems will be designated as equal 8-disk volumes and
set to the raid level of your choice in the RAID LEVEL field above. As the result, three identical
volumes will be presented to your SAN management software. Select one of the three volumes as
your metadata volume, while the remaining two volumes are striped to form your data volume.
Upon completion of your selections of the RAID LEVEL and SAN Software fields, click the “Next”
button at the lower-right of your screen, the resulting configuration similar to what is shown below is
displayed.
Note that once the settings are applied, you will not be able to change RAID settings using Quick Setup
again. Review and confirm your configuration, click “Apply” to continue only if you are certain about
your selections. Otherwise, select the Quick Setup option from the menu to start over. Alternatively, you
may choose to Logout and re-visit Quick Setup at a later time.
After you click the “Apply” button, the system will start the process of initializing the disks in your RAID
storage system(s). During this process, you may experience deterioration in overall system performance,
but this is normal. Please allow sufficient time and patience for this process. Upon completion, the LED
indicators on the front panel of your RAID system(s) will reflect that status. Refer to the appropriate
documentation of your RAID system(s) for additional information.
