The Toshiba Power Saver feature that turns off the display to
conserve power (and needs no password to resume operation),
or

The use of an invalid Display mode hot key (
Fn + F5
) setting.

This hot key displays the power usage pop-up
window and cycles through the power usage modes.
The power usage modes under battery power are:
Long Life, Normal, and High Power.
The power usage modes under AC power is
Full Power only.
