Diagnostic Test

If you are having trouble with the Recorder after checking Helpful Hints and other
information in this manual, try a Diagnostic Test.

Disconnect the power cord from the Recorder’s MAINS ~ (AC
Power) jack on the rear of the Recorder.

Press and hold the Play : button on the front of the Recorder
while you reconnect the power cord to the Recorder.
“BUSY” will
appear on the display panel, along with a counter number. Release PLAY
:. The counter will reach zero (0) when the test is finished.

Momentarily, “FAIL” or “PASS” will appear on the display panel. If “FAIL”
appears, your Recorder needs repair. Contact the Philips Customer Care
Center for the Authorized Service Center nearest you.
If “PASS” appears, the Recorder apparently has no failure.The problem may
be incorrect interpretation of the operating instructions, a wrong Disc in
use, or incorrect connections. Contact the Philips Customer Care Center
for further assistance in solving the problem.

If there is no failure, disconnect the power cord again, then reconnect it to
the Recorder and an AC power outlet.The Recorder will be ready for use.
