• Never use your InDuo™ meter with
blood that has been collected in a
test-tube with a grey-coloured top.
• Use only fresh capillary blood
obtained from the fingertip.
Other reasons for variation
Besides the factors listed in the
OneTouch
®
Ultra Test Strip package insert
there are other reasons for variations:
• Blood glucose levels can change
significantly over short periods,
especially if you have recently eaten,
exercised, taken medication, or
experienced stress

• If you have eaten recently, the blood
glucose level from a fingertip blood
sample can be up to 3.9 mmol/L
(70 mg/dL) higher than blood drawn
from a vein (venous sample) used for
a laboratory test

. It is therefore best
to fast for 8 hours before doing a
comparison test between an InDuo™
meter result and a laboratory result.
• Physical factors, such as the amount
of red blood cells in the blood (a high
or low hematocrit) or the loss of
body fluids (severe dehydration) may
also cause an InDuo™ meter test
result to be different from a
laboratory result.
