An another representative system is DTS developed by Digital Theater System Inc.,
consists of the same discrete 5.1 channels being recorded and processed in digital,
which realizes good channel separation. It is applied digital audio compression
technology.

6.1 surround
Dolby Digital EX developed by Dolby Laboratories, provides system of of front
speakers (L, C and R), rear speakers (L, Back and R) and subwoofer.
It is recorded and processed in digital. The digital audio compression technology is
applied.

Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)

It occurs at harmonic frequencies to the whole number multiple of fundamental signal.
It is expressed as a percentage of the fundamental frequency or in dB.

Unbalanced
It is a type of input and output interface. It consists of one signal and a ground. In cable,
the ground is often shielded.
It is used in mainly consumer audio products and has advantage of low cost. However, in
case the interconnection is concerned for picked up noises, the balanced line is preferable
because of capability to cancel the picked up noises.
