The Wireless 108AG employs both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz frequencies, incorporating
802.11a, 802.11b and 802.11g wireless LAN standards to make it compatible with
virtually all existing 802.11 networks. This wireless LAN series provides the most
expanded user bandwidth available in a wireless device. It offers data transfer rates
of up to 108Mbps in the Turbo Mode in either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands when
operating with other D-Link Wireless 108AG products, and in the 2.4GHz band when
operating with other D-Link Wireless 108G products. 1 Hundreds of wireless clients
can connect to this network, using any one of its non-overlapping channels.
Through the user access control function in wireless routers and access points,
network administrators can segment users on the wireless network by frequency
band. Users who require special networking privilege access to sensitive company
data, video conferencing, or connectivity to specific departments may, for example,
use the 802.11a channels, while other employees may use the 802.11b and 802.11g
channels. This type of user segmentation optimizes the performance of the routers
and access points, and delivers the best network experience to each set of users.
