Appendix C: Counters & Timers
The V15Timer program is an “add-on” software package that may be purchased separately from the
Venus 1500 software. The operator uses this program to configure counters/timers to provide
countdown information on Daktronics signs.
Counters are used to automatically increment or decrement values from a starting point to a pre-
determined stopping point at specific intervals. For a general counter, the start and end values are unit-
less numbers. In the Venus 1500 software, the counter option can end with a programmed “event” or
message running on a select group of signs. A combination of up to three counters/timers can be used
simultaneously.
A timer is a specific type of counter, using time (days, hours, minutes, seconds) as the unit of measure
for the starting and ending values. The timer can also end with a programmed event running on specific
signs.

Network Requirements & Sign Firmware Compatibility
• = Only serial or TCP/IP networks support counters and timers. Modems are not supported.
• = Counters and timers are compatible with the following sign firmware versions. The
firmware version for your sign will appear as part of the boot up initialization information.

Use the Venus 1500 software’s Get Status to verify the sign’s firmware version.
