ROUTINE CARE
5.1
Annual Verification
It is recommended that the performance of all Dose Badges and Reader
Units are verified and their batteries changed at least every 12 months.
They should be returned to Casella CEL or an authorised service centre
as described in Chapter 8.
The date that the Reader Unit and Dose Badges are due for
recalibration can be seen on the print-out and in data transferred to the
computer.
5.2
Cleaning
Use only a damp, lightly soaped cloth to clean the Dose Badge and
Reader. DO NOT use solvent based cleaners, as they may damage the
Dose Badge window or the case labels. Make sure that all infrared
windows and the Acoustic Calibrator are free from damage and dirt.
Attempting to remove dirt from the microphone grill
using sharp implements can damage the sensitive membrane
underneath.
The Dose Badge microphone grill must be protected against
soiling, as blocked grill holes can cause a deterioration in the performance
of the unit.
5.3
Storage
When a Dose Badge is to be left unused for a period longer than a few
days, it is recommended that it be fully charged. This will prevent
potential damage to the internal batteries caused by unwanted discharge.
When fully charged and not used, internal batteries will remain
charged for at least 28 days. If the badge is stored for longer than this
and the batteries are left to become totally discharged, DAMAGE WILL
OCCUR ! Therefore, prevent damage by making sure the Dose Badge is
recharged every two weeks (14 days). To ensure optimum operation,
leave it on trickle charge when not in use.
Any failure to follow this procedure will result in an
additional service charge, as battery failure due to self-
discharge, is NOT covered by the Warranty.
