OPERATION
Practically all procedures for measuring noise dose require that the
measuring device be calibrated both before and after the measurement !
It is also recommended that the current configuration be checked
(see Section 2.5) to ensure that it is suitable for the proposed
measurement task. If the configuration is not suitable, change it before
commencing calibration or operation, as described in Chapter 3.
4.1
Automatic Calibration
With Dose Badge internal batteries charged as described in Section 2.3
and batteries installed in the Reader Unit
(Section 2.4), calibrate all Dose Badges to be
used for the proposed measurement task as
follows.
1.
Carefully insert the Dose Badge into
the calibrator cavity in the top panel
of the Reader, as shown in Figure 5.
Make sure the Dose Badge is firmly
in contact with the shoulder near the
bottom of the cavity.
Also make sure the infrared window
in the Dose Badge is facing the
window in the top panel of the
Reader so that effective
communication will be possible.
2.
Press
to switch the Reader ON.
3.
Wait for the status screen to be
displayed, then press
to initiate
an automatic calibration sequence.
