BEFORE BEGINNING
Identify and verify that you have all the
parts listed. Read the instructions at least once,
familiarizing yourself with the parts before assembly.
You'll need a #2 & #3 Phillips screwdriver.
ASSEMBLY
You can use the coping sled without the jig bar by using
it against a fence, in which case your cutter will cut into the
sled base. As long as approximately 1/4" of the thickness
of the base material remains, it's OK to cut into the base.
If using the Jig Bar (4912B), follow the instructions that
come with it. After adjusting the bar to fit your miter slot,
attach the bar to the base (525B) using two of the mounting
holes in the base. Select mounting holes that position the base
as close as possible to the cutter with out striking it. Use
the two 3/4" screws (MF040) to attach the bar to the base
instead of the screws that come with the bar. See fig. 1.
Determine where on the base you wish to attach the
24" Ultra Track Fence (4412). See fig. 2. The position of
the Ultra Track Fence on the base will affect the maximum
width of stock that can be used. Referring to fig. 2, the
upper drawing depicts the Ultra Track Fence located as far
forward on the base as possible and will limit the maximum
stock width you can use to 10-3/8". By using one of the
other two mounting positions you can increase this width
by 3/4" (11-1/8" capacity) or 1-1/2" (11-7/8" capacity),
but you'll also increase the minimum stock width.
Insert a 3/4" screw (MF010) through the three selected
countersunk holes in the base. Start an oval nut (5760B
- smooth side first) on the ends of the screws and slide the
Ultra Track Fence on the oval nuts. See fig. 2 & 3. Check
that the Ultra Track Fence is square to the base. If not using
a jig bar, position the end of the Ultra Track Fence 1/2" in
from the edge of the base or far enough in from the edge so
the cutter won't strike it. If using a jig bar, position the end of
the fence flush with the inboard edge of the base. See fig. 3.
With a Jig Bar:
Ultra Track Fence
should be fl ush with edge of base.
Against a Fence:
Ultra Track
Fence should be retracted 1/2”
or more from edge of base
