Woodhaven 5433: HD Rail Master User Manual
Page 3
Select the rail template you wish to use from a Standard
or HD Door Template set. To determine which template
mounting holes in the base to use, center the template side-to-
side on the base. Select the holes in the base that line up with
the holes in the template, then follow the directions for your
template style (Standard or HD) below. You won't use the
fences that came with the Standard Door Template set when
using those templates with the HD Frame Master. See fig. 6.
For Standard Door Templates: Install two 2" bolts
(HB055) thru the bottom of the base in the holes selected.
Place a 5/8" spacer (BUSH004) and knob (5521) on each bolt
and tighten the knob. When placed on the bolts, the template
will be 1" above the base and this height will work for rails
up to 7/8" thick. Use the 1/8" & 1/4" spacers (BUSH001
& BUSH002) if additional height is needed. See fig. 7.
For HD Door Templates: Install two 3" bolts (HB060)
thru the bottom of the base in the holes selected. Place four
1/4" spacers (BUSH1250) on each bolt. When placed on the
bolts, the template will be 1" above the base and this height will
work for rails between 3/4" and 1" thick. Use the 1/8" spacers
(BUSH1125) if additional height is needed. Next, make sure
the template clears the shaper cutter (flush or cope cutter) and
that the shaper cutter bearing is riding on the template. Stack
additional spacers, if needed, to achieve the best template height
for your cutter and bearing. Place a 1" washer (WFN002)
on each bolt/spacer stack. Install the template on the bolts
and another 1" washer on each bolt, on top of the template.
Place a knob (5560) on each bolt and tighten. See fig. 8.
USING THE HD FRAME MASTER
Adjust the position of the fence/track on the base for your
rail width. Our Standard and HD Door Templates are designed
for 2-1/4" wide rails (measured at narrowest point). Loosen the
three screws holding the fence plates/track to the base. Loosen
the stops and position the inside of each so the 5/8" spacer at
each end is on the inside of the spacers holding the template to
the base. Position the fence plates so they're 1-5/8" back from
the edge of the base and tighten the screws. Adjust the stops
to center the rail on the template and tighten. If desired, the
fence can be moved back later to cut wider rails. See fig. 9.
Hold the rail in the HD Frame Master and trace the
outline of the template on the rail. Remove the rail and cut
it to shape, staying 1/8" or less from the line. See fig. 10.
