Turn on the slide switch (S1) and move the adjustable resistor (RV)
control lever across its range. When the lever is all the way down the
LED (D1) will be off, as you move the lever up it will come on and reach
full brightness.
Press the press switch (S2) and the lamp (L4) will be on for a few
moments. Wait 5-10 seconds before pressing the switch again, or
nothing will happen.

Transistor Circuit
Pressing the switch charges up the 100mF
capacitor (C4) turning on transistors Q1
and Q2, and the lamp (L4) lights. Once C4
is charged up, the voltage at Q1 drops and
it turns the lamp off. You must wait until C4
discharges to turn the lamp on again.
This circuit is considered the standard
transistor configuration for amplifiers. The
adjustable resistor control will normally be
set so that the LED is at half brightness,
since this minimizes distortion of the signal
being amplified.
