4. BASIC OPERATION

4.1. CHARGING THE BATTERY

PR130 battery may be supplied without charge. Please charge

the battery with the desk-top charger or vehicle charger

before using the phone. The phone will not work without a

charged battery. (See chapter 9 for additional details.)

4.2. TURNING THE

TELEPHONE ON/OFF

TO TURN OFF:

[PWR|Hold for 0.5 seconds

To turn on your telephone, press the [PWR} key, you will

hear the short wakeup tone from the speaker in handset. The

LCD will be black for 0.5 seconds. Then your telephone num­

ber and one of the following three messages which indicate
your telephone status will be displayed on the LCD.

[READY]: When the phone is in HANDSET/HHP mode.
[LOCK] : When the phone is non-operational and locked
[HFREE]: When the phone is in handsfree mode.

To turn off your telephone, simply press the power [PWR]

key for about 0.5 seconds and the LCD display will be blank.

If the phone is locked, enter the lock code correctly when

you want to unlock the phone. If the phone does not unlock

even though you have entered the lock code, reenter the

lock code after press [CLR] key for about 0.5 seconds.

be completed even though cellular service is good because
the number being called is already engaged. In this case,
press the (END] key and retry your call in a few minutes by
pressing the [SEND] key or using the automatic REDIAL fea­

4.4. RECEIVING A CALL

TO RECEIVE A CALL [SEND] or[ANYKEY]

When you hear your phone ringing or when you see the mes­

sage "CALL" on the LCD display, press the [SEND] key to

receive the call. If you set the "Any-Key-Answer''option, you
can press any key to answer the call. (See chapter 7.4 for
details.)

4,5. ENDING A CAIi

TO END A CALL

[END]

If you wish to stop the conversation (disconnect the call),
press the [END] key. In case that you press the [SEND] key

very quickly after pressing the [END] key. the "WATP'mes-

sage may be displayed in LCD display. This means your call
is being held for a moment.

4,3. PIACINGACALL

If you wish to place a call, enter the telephone number and
then press the [SEND] key. When you want to make a long
distance call, you should enter the area code first

Any telephone number you try to call will be stored into the
phone's special memory. Up to a maximum of nine numbers
can be stored at any one time. You can review these tele­
phone numbers at any time. (See chapter 6.6 for details.)

If, for any reason, your call is not completed, you will hear

one of two kinds of tones. One is fast busy tone(Intercept

Tone) to alarm you that you are in a no-service cellular area

and that the call can not be completed, (i.e. press the [SEND]
key when a no-service [NOSVCJ area.) The other tone is a
