Adjust the Needle Thread Tension for Zigzag
Stitch
For an ideal zigzag stitch, the bobbin thread does not show
on the right side (Top side) of the fabric and needle thread
shows slightly on the wrong side (Bottom side) of fabric.
See the illustrations for correct appearance.
To match this appearance, adjust the needle tension.
• Correct tension
(T)
Right side (Top side) of fabric
(2) Wrong side (Bottom side) of fabric
Minimize amount of needle thread visible on the wrong
side (Bottom side) of fabric without causing excessive
puckering or causing bobbin thread to show on the right side
(Top side) of fabric. Results vary with fabric, thread and
sewing condition.
•Tension is too tight
© Right side (Top side) of fabric
© Wrong side (Bottom side) of fabric

side of fabric.
•Tension is too loose
® Right side (Top side) of fabric
© Wrong side (Bottom side) of fabric
The needle thread loops through wrong side (Bottom side)
of fabric and is pulled almost together.
