Stitches on the pattern cassette
With the heip of the stitches on the pattern cassette
you can decorate your garments according to your own
taste. You have 44 attractive stitches at your disposal. In
addition you can combine (program) these stitches and in
this way produce your own personal decorations. Read
more about this on page 46.
Some of these stitches are both decorative and utility
stitches.
Select the stitch by means of the push-buttons under
the cassette. The stitch selected will be indicated by two
red lights; one to the left of the group of stitches and one
at the top showing which stitch within the group is set.
The machine will select the stitch width, density and
thread tension which will produce the best result on the
majority of fabrics. The stitch length and width can be
increased or decreased by pressing the push-buttons in
question.
In some cases, however, it is not possible to sew with a
stitch length of more than 4.5.
You can return to the standard setting by pressing the
push-button for another stitch and then returning to the
stitch you were sewing.
Some examples follow of the range of use.
Bridging stitches
If you would like a decorative seam, place the folded
edges (without sewing them together first) some mm
from each other and join with one of the illustrated
bridging stitches.
They may also be used for inserting lace and
embroidery.
These stitches are also useful for gathering with shir­
ring elastic. Use the buttonhole foot C and place the
shirring elastic around its “heel”. Remember that the
elastic will always be stitched double, so take this into
account when calculating how much you will need. Sew
bridging stitch over both lengths of the elastic simultane­
ously. The elastic may either be stretched while sewing
or when you have finished the seam. In the latter case it
is important that the elastic does not get stitched in by
mistake but can run freely under the stitching.
