Eastern Towhee
Eurasian Collared-dove
European Robin
About the bird:
Eastern Towhees
forage for food by hopping forward,
kicking leaf litter back and uncover-
ing hidden seeds and insects.
Range:
Common in eastern half
of U.S. and southeastern Canada;
replaced by Spotted Towhee in West.
About the photo:
Towhees are
more likely to visit a backyard feeding
station when seed is scattered on the
ground or, in this case, the patio.
Photographed by:
David
Lindquist with a BirdCam (original).
About the bird:
Native to Europe,
this large dove was first (accidentally)
introduced to North America in 1974.
The birds quickly adapted and spread
throughout much of the U.S.
Range:
Now common in the central
and southern U.S.
About the photo:
This awesome
shot captures a Eurasian Collared-
dove with wings spread, ready to take
flight from a backyard birdbath.
Photographed by:
Norm Duval
with a BirdCam 2.0.
About the bird:
This is the bird
for which the American Robin is
named. Though the two species are
not closely related (the American
Robin is actually a thrush), they share
similar coloring, particularly the
reddish-orange breast.
Range:
Throughout Europe.
About the photo:
Here a
European Robin visits a garden bird
feeder in England.
