Product Overview
The CP382 digital output controller has been designed to provide a large number of automati-
cally controlled, flexible digital outputs within a ruggedised board equipped with features for
electrical protection. The flexibility is due to the fact that the 24 channels provided are organ-
ised into 3 separate clusters of 8 channels each, allowing the user to configure up to 3 different
voltages as required. Reliability is assured by features which include overtemperature thermal
shutdown, overcurrent and undervoltage protection. Use of the widely available D-sub 62 front
panel connector means that the board may be used in a broad range of application fields. On
the software side the board may be used with all major operating systems.
This product is part of a comprehensive concept whose goal is to provide CompactPCI system
integrators with a complete range of I/O products which include the functions of analog input,
analog output, digital input and digital output implemented as separate integral boards. This
concept ensures the maximum degree of system design flexibility thus allowing for the efficient
and effective usage of available resources..

FEATURE
DESCRIPTION
Channels
24 digital output channels in 3 independent groups of 8 channels
each. Each group may be set to operate at different voltages for dif-
ferent loads within the prescribed output voltage limits.
Protective Features
The design of the board incorporates a range of protective features
including the following:
Signal Output Overcurrent Protection
Input Voltage Undervoltage Protection
Overtemperature Protection
Isolation: system side protected by optocouplers
Details of these protective features are provided in table 1-4, Digital
Output Specifications
External Interfaces
2 external interfaces, the digital output interface connector CON2 on
the front panel and a single CompactPCI connector at the rear.
The digital output interface connector supports up to 24 digital output
channels. The connector pins are subdivided into 3 clusters or groups
which are independent from each other and can operate at different
voltages to meet the requirements of different loads.
The CompactPCI connector is the standard CPCI type connector for J1
Indicators
One green LED (Run) and one red LED (Fail), which are user config-
urable
Temperature Range
The board is qualified to operate over a wide range of temperatures
as follows:
Operational:
0ºC to
+70ºC Standard
-40ºC to
+85ºC E2
Storage:
-55ºC to +125ºC
