Using Your BaHery Packs Effectively
Immediately After Purchase
Newly purchased battery packs have not been
charged, so charge completely before using.
When charging brand new battery packs,
charge until charge indicator lights, and
disconnect. Then reconnect and charge a
second time.
General Use
Battery packs can be charged when ambient
temperature is between 0°C—40°C. Best
results are achieved between 10°C—30°C.
After battery pack has been fully charged, do
not continue to try to recharge it. Repeatedly
recharging a fully charged battery pack can
cause it to become overcharged.
Always discharge battery pack completely
before recharging or storing. Repeatedly
recharging battery pack before it is fully
discharged will cause its electrical storage
capacity to decrease. If the usage time has
decreased, try one of the following methods of
discharging the battery completely to restore it:
• Use the optional VL-20 Battery Video Light until
it grows dim.
• Use a Canon product which has a discharge
function such as the MC-100. It is also effective
to leave the battery attached to the camera with
the tape removed and wait until camera’s
OPERATE indicator goes out. Try turning the
camcorder power on several times after it cuts
off the first time.
Remove the battery pack.
DISCHARGE
RECHARGE
When using battery pack with the battery video
light, be sure to disconnect battery pack when
the light begins to grow dim. Continuing to use
battery pack in such a situation may cause it to
become overdischarged.
Immediately after use, battery pack will be hot
and it is best not to recharge it at this time.
Make sure that battery pack has cooled off
before recharging.
When battery pack has been overdischarged,
you may be unable to recharge it completely
(battery pack will not recharge fully even though
charge indicator lights). In such a case, charge
and discharge battery pack repeatedly (2—3
times) until it is recharged properly.
