Maintenance Functions

The HP PhotoSmart printer requires verg Little maintenance. Be sure to keep the

print cartridges Fresh (don’t Let them sit unused For Long periods o1 time) and keep

the printer clean and in good condition to avoid ang problems.

Materials you will need

BeFore gou begin, make sure gou have the Following:

•

cotton swabs or ang soFt material that will not leave Fibers

•

distilled, Filtered, or bottled water

•

paper to set the print cartridges on while gou are cleaning

Cleaning the print cartidge holders

IF gou notice vertical streaks or lines on gour prints, the print cartridge holders mag

need to be cleaned.

Note:

Be careFul not to get ink on gour hands or clothing.

To clean the print cartridge holders:

1. Remove the print cartridges. See “Replacing print cartridges” on page 16 For

instructions.

Place the print cartridges (wide-side down) on a piece oF paper to prevent

staining ang surFaces. Be careFul not to touch or cover the print cartridge

nozzles (on the bottom oF the cartridge).

Note: To preserve the print cartridges, make sure gou replace the print

cartridges in the printer beFore thirtg minutes has passed.

3. On the printer’s Front panel, press the Power button to turn the printer power

oFF.

4. Unplug the power cord From the back oF the printer.
