Entering the Service Tag in the BIOS
Removing the System Board

Follow the procedures in

Remove the battery (see

3.
Remove the optical drive (see

4.
Remove the module cover (see

).
5.
Remove the coin-cell battery (see
Removing the Coin-Cell Battery

6.
Remove the memory module(s) (see

).
7.
Remove the Mini-Card (see
Removing the Mini-Card
).
8.
Note the routing of the Mini-Card antenna cables and remove them from the routing guides on the bottom of the computer.
9.
Remove the power button panel (see

).
10.
Remove the keyboard (see
Removing the Keyboard
).
11.
Remove the palm rest (see
Removing the Palm Rest
).
12.
Remove the Bluetooth
®
card (see
Removing the Bluetooth Card

13.
Remove the hard drive (see

Remove the processor fan (see

15.
Disconnect the microphone cable from the connector on the system board (see
step 8
in
Removing the Microphone
).
16.
Disconnect the AC adapter cable from the connector on the system board (see
step 8
in
Removing the AC Adapter Connector
).
17.
Disconnect the display cable and the speaker cable from their connectors on the system board.
18.
Remove the seven screws that secure the system board to the computer base.

To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see
Removing the Battery
) before working inside the
computer.
