2.2 INSTALLING FPIMs
To install an FPIM into the HSIM-F6, perform the following steps:
1. Attach the antistatic wrist strap. If the HSIM is to be installed in a
standalone hub, refer to the instructions on the antistatic wrist strap
package. If the HSIM is to be installed in an interface module, refer to
the applicable interface module User’s Guide.
2. Refer to Figure 2-1 and remove the two screws from the standoffs. The
two screws secure the FPIM coverplate. Save the screws and remove
the FPIM coverplate.
3. Refer to Figure 2-2 and remove the three faceplate screws attaching
the faceplate to the HSIM-F6. Save the screws.
4. Press the FPIM connector into the HSIM pins.
Only qualified personnel should install or service this unit.

CAUTION
The HSIM-F6 and FPIMs are sensitive to static discharges.
Use a grounding strap and observe all static precautions during
this procedure. Failure to do so could result in damage to the
HSIM-F6 or the FPIMs.

CAUTION
When mating the FPIM connector to the HSIM pins, take extra
care that the pins do not enter the connector at an angle to
avoid damaging both the FPIM connector and the HSIM pins.
