Set Transmission
Refer to Figure 28
Install the DRIVING and DRIVEN sprockets called out in
the chart.
• The DRIVING sprocket is to the rear for ground drive
planters (system powered by seed drive wheel).
• The DRIVING sprocket is to the front for planters with
optional hydraulic drive (system powered by dedicated
ground drive tire).
1. Loosen the bolt at the idler plate . Rotate the idler
plate to relax chain tension. Lift the chain of the
DRIVING and/or DRIVEN sprockets that need to be
exchanged.
2. Remove the pins from any sprocket that needs to be
changed, and from the storage tree
.
3. Exchange sprockets between shafts and tree as
needed to match the chart values.
4. Re-engage the idler plate for appropriate chain slack
(see Operator manual for information on chain slack
and chain orientation). Tighten the bolt of the idler
plate.
Calibrate Dry Fertilizer Rate
Chart rates are approximate, and are based on test
material, conditions and speeds that may vary from
yours. Checking actual application rate, and, as needed,
adjusting the transmission (“calibration”) is strongly
recommended.
If seed is loaded, disable the seed drive (on a ground
drive planter, remove the seed Range chain).
1. Load ample fertilizer in one hopper.
2. Obtain 2 (single row) or four (twin row) collection
containers. Record the weight of the empty
containers (the TareWeight).
3. For the test hopper, disconnect the delivery hoses at
the coulter. Attach a collection container to each
hose. Alternatively, disconnect the hoses at the
hopper outlets, and attach the collection containers
there.
4. Check the chart at right for the distance needed to
sample 1/100 hectare or acre for the outlets to be
sampled. Measure off that distance in the field.
