Reading a Fertilizer Rate Chart
Charts in U.S. customary units are on page 54 through
page 65.
Charts in metric units are on page 108 through
page 117.
1.
Find the charts (on facing pages) for your planter
model and row spacing, in your preferred units of
measure.
2.
Use the chart for your planter’s meter drive:
ground drive wheel shared w/seed drive (LH pages)
or dedicated ground drive tire (RH pages).
3.
Find your desired (or density-adjusted) rate in the
pounds per acre or kilograms per hectare columns.
Note that for single-row planters, similar rates may
appear in Low Rate or High Rate columns.
4.
For single-row planters, note which Rate range
column is being used. You need to set or verify the
auger configurations to use this rate (next topic).
5.
Note the Transmission DRIVING and DRIVEN
sprocket tooth count values. Setting instructions are
on page 52.
Set Auger Rate Range
For a twin row planter, continue at “Set Transmission”.
Single-row planters have hoppers with auger-style
metering. At the center of the shaft, the starting position
of the tapered auger controls coarse rate.
Refer to Figure 27
Material and Time Loss Risk:
Before applying fertilizer make sure that augers are rotating
correctly and are positioned for your desired rate setting.
For chart Low Rate, set auger for a center gap, as shown
at
.
For chart High Rate, set augers for no center gap, as
shown at
.
