Dry Fertilizer Rate
The YP825AR planter supports an optional dry or liquid
fertilizer system. Rate setting for the liquid fertilizer
system begins on page 66.
The system is powered by one of two sources (not
shown in the figure):
• on ground drive planters, the toothed meter ground
drive wheel, or
• on hydraulic drive planters, a dedicated ground drive
tire mounted on the front tool bar near the fertilizer
transmission.
Refer to Figure 26
Dry fertilizer rate is controlled by:
• a driving
/ driven
sprocket pair on the
transmission
at the left end of the opener frame.
Sprockets are exchanged with a sprocket tree
mounted on the left end of that frame.
• a Rate range feature in some
a
configurations. Single-
row planters have a a Rate range auger setting.
Determine Your Rate
Initial chart rates are given for pounds per acre or
kilograms per hectare.
Note: Great Plains recommends checking with your local
Agronomist as soil conditions vary. Soil conditions
in your area may need lesser or more amounts of
fertilizer than represented in these charts.
Fertilizer Density Adjustment
The fertilizer meter rate charts are based on fertilizer with
a density of 65 pounds per cubic foot (1.04 kilograms per
liter).
If you are applying fertilizer of a different density, use the
table at right to convert application rate
Multiply the desired application rate by the conversion
factor.
Use the “Chart Rate” to determine the initial sprocket
settings.
If the rate measured in calibration varies from the desired
field rate by more than a few percent, apply the error
percentage to the Chart Rate, and pick a new sprocket
pairing based on that.
a. Twin row configurations with ground drive seed metering have no Range feature for dry fertilizer rate.

Example:
Planter model: YP825AR-0875, Ground Drive
You want to apply at: 112 kg/ha (your FieldRate).
The fertilizer density is: 0.96 kg/l
This is a CorrectionFactor of: 1.08
121 x 1.08 = 132
Adjust planter to the setting closest to
121 kilograms per hectare.
Per the chart on page 110, the closest ChartRate is:
121 kg/ha
which corresponds to settings:
