Introduction
Description of Unit
These field-installed kits add small seeds planting
capability to specific 2004 or later 40-foot 3-section drills.
There are separate kits for drills with and without fertilizer
capability. There are separate kits for each row spacing.
Compatible Drills
Drills manufactured in 2004 or later (which includes all
3S-4000HD and 3S-4000HDF models) are compatible
with these kits. Drills manufactured earlier, may not have
mount fittings for key components.
Refer to Figure 1, which depicts the left drill section.
Components on center and right sections are similar.
Before installing any of these kits, inspect the main frame
of any drill section.
• The right front corner of the frame must have a
rectangular gusset plate with holes (if
right-side-drive Fertilizer is installed, this is under the
Fertilizer drive).
• Mid-frame, the clutch bearing plate must have a lower
bearing opening , and idler slot (if right-side-drive
Fertilizer is installed, a bearing and idler occupy these
openings).
Compatible Kits
Each kit updates one drill.
Document Family
If your Seed Rate, Operator and/or Parts manuals are
dated prior to 2008, check the Great Plains web site, or
check with your Great Plains dealer, for updates.
The information in this manual is current at printing.
Some parts may change to assure top performance.
