Problem Cause Remedy
Peristaltic pump – Filter
blocked. Replace the filter (see "Replacing the filter",
page 92).
Peristaltic pump – Pump
tubing defective. Replace the pump tubing .
Data of the separa-
tion column cannot
be read. Column chip contamina-
ted. Clean the contact surfaces of the column chip
with alcohol.
Column chip is defective. 1. Save column configuration in MagIC Net™.
2. Notify Metrohm Service.
Individual peaks are
greater than
expected. Sample – Sample carry-
over from the previous
measurement. Check the rinsing time (see "Checking the rins-
ing time", page 95).
Suppressor – Insuffi-
cient flow of regen-
eration solution or
rinsing solution. There is a leak in the sys-
tem. Check all connections.
Peristaltic pump – Contact
pressure too weak. Correctly set the contact pressure .
Peristaltic pump – Filter
blocked. Replace the filter (see Chapter 5.13.2.2, page
92).
Suppressor – Backpressure
too high. Clean the suppressor (see Chapter 5.12.3.3,
page 86) or replace parts (see Chapter
5.12.3.4, page 88).
Peristaltic pump – Pump
tubing defective. Replace the pump tubing.
The background
conductivity is too
high. The suppressor is not con-
nected. Connect the suppressor (see Chapter 3.12,
page 28).
The incorrect eluent is
being used. Change the eluent (see Chapter 5.5.2, page
65).
Suppressor – No or insuffi-
cient flow of regeneration
solution or rinsing solution. Check the flow of the regeneration solution
and the rinsing solution .
MCS – The CO
2
suppressor
is not connected.
Connect the CO
2
suppressor.
The retention times
are poorly reprodu-
cible. The eluent path has a leak. Check all of the connections along the eluent
path and fix the leak.
The eluent path is blocked. Check the eluent path and fix the blockage.
