The Clarus Environmental Recirculating Media Filter is designed as a secondary treatment device. It works in conjunction with the septic
tank (primary treatment) and the drain field (water disposal and final polishing) to provide excellent overall treatment of sewage. Refer to the
diagram below to see the overall flow of effluent through the system.
Section 1: Gravity Discharge System Installation

In new construction, the recirculating media filter can be installed at the same time as the other onsite wastewater treatment system
components. Use the following outline as a guide to install the overall system:
General System Installation Outline
1. Install septic tank.
2. Install building sewer line as required to septic tank.
3. Install dosing tank.
4. Install piping between septic tank and dosing tank.
5. Install dosing tank pump.
6. Install wiring from dosing pump to control panel.
7. Install media filter (see detailed instructions below).
8. Install force main from dosing tank to media filter.
9. Install splitter system and piping to splitter system (see CL0075).
10. Install return line from splitter system to dosing tank.
11. Install piping from splitter system to disposal area.
