Generator Maintenance
Thegeneratorwarrantydoesnotcoveritemsthathavebeen
subjectedtooperatorabuseorneglect.Toreceivefullvalue
fromthewarranty,theoperatormustmaintainthesystemas
instructedintheengineoperator’smanual.
Alladjustmentsshouldbemadeatleastonceeachseason.
Followtherequirementsintheengineoperator’smanual.
Generatormaintenanceconsistsofkeepingtheunit
clean.Operatetheunitinanenvironmentwhereitwill
notbeexposedtoexcessivedust,dirt,moistureorany
corrosivevapors.Coolingairlouversontheenclosure
mustnotbecomecloggedwithsnow,leaves,oranyother
foreignmaterial.Topreventgeneratordamagecausedby
overheating,keeptheenclosurecoolinginletsandoutlets
cleanandunobstructedatalltimes.
Checkthecleanlinessoftheunitfrequentlyandcleanwhen
dust,dirt,oil,moistureorotherforeignsubstancesare
visibleonitsexterior/interiorsurface.Inspecttheairinlet
andoutletopeningsinsideandoutsidetheenclosureto
ensureairflowisnotblocked.
NOTE:DONOTusedirectsprayfromagardenhosetoclean
generator.Watercanentertheengineandgeneratorand
causeproblems.
Engine Oil
Thesystemisfilledwithsyntheticoil(APISJ/CF5W-30W).
Thisallowsforsystemoperationinthewidestrangeof
temperatureandclimateconditions.
NOTE:Theuseofsyntheticoildoes not altertherequiredoil
changeintervalsdescribedintheengineoperator’smanual.
Changing Engine Oil and Filter
Removethetwoscrewsfromeachplasticaccesscover
andremovebothaccesscoversfromthetwosidesofthe
generatorenclosure.
Changing Oil
1. Placetheoildraintubeintoanapprovedcontainer.
. Removebrassplugfromtubeoppositeofengine.
3. Whentheoilhasdrained,replacebrassplugintotube.
4. Slidetheoildraintubeupintothebeadedtiewrapon
thefuelhose.
Changing Oil Filter
1. Placeoildraintrayovertubingandslideitunderoil
filter.
. Followinstructionsgiveninengineoperator’smanual
forchangingoilfilter.
3. Removeoildraintrayfromunderoilfilterandcleanup
anyspilledoil.
CAUTION
Avoidprolongedorrepeatedskincontactwithusedmotor
oil.
Usedmotoroilhasbeenshowntocauseskincancerin
certainlaboratoryanimals.
Thoroughlywashexposedareaswithsoapandwater.

Air Filter
TheengineforthisgeneratorisequippedwithaUL
recognizedairfilter.Whenservicingtheairfilter,followthe
instructionsgivenintheengineoperatorsmanual.Replace
ONLYwithsametypeULrecognizedairfilter,P/N79063.
