Final Installation Considerations
Engine Oil
NOTICE
Anyattempttocrankorstarttheenginebeforeithasbeen
properlyservicedwiththerecommendedoilwillresultin
equipmentfailure.
Referto Maintenanceandenginemanualforoilfill
information.
Damagetoequipmentresultingfromfailuretofollowthis
instructionwillvoidengineandgeneratorwarranty.

Thisengineisshippedfromthefactorypre-runandfilled
withsyntheticoil(APISJ/CF5W-30W).Thisallowsfor
systemoperationinthewidestrangeoftemperatureand
climateconditions.Beforestartingtheengine,checkoillevel
andensurethatengineisservicedasdescribedintheengine
operator’smanual.
NOTE:Theuseofsyntheticoildoes notaltertherequiredoil
changeintervalsdescribedintheengineoperator’smanual.
Battery
Thehomegeneratorissuppliedwithasealed,lead-acid,
rechargeable,1VoltDC33Amp-Hour,350coldcranking
amps(CCA),valveregulatedbattery.Itisinstalledintheunit
andthebatterycablesareconnectedatthefactory.
Withthebatteryinstalled,allwiringtotransferswitchand
homegeneratorcompleted,utilitypowersuppliedtothe
AutomaticTransferSwitch,andthesystemswitchinthe
AUTOposition,thebatteryreceivesatricklechargewhilethe
engineisnotrunning.Thetricklechargecannotbeusedto
rechargeabatterythatiscompletelydischarged.
15 Amp Fuse
Thegenerator’s15Ampfusewasremovedatthefactoryto
preventtheunitfromstartingduringshipping.Yourinstaller
willensurethefuseisproperlyinstalleduponcompletionof
theinstallation.
Fuel Supply System
Ensurethatallfuelpipeconnectionsaretight,secureand
withoutleaks.
EnsurethatallgaslineshutoffvalvesareOPENandthat
adequatefuelpressureisavailablewheneverautomatic
operationisdesired.
Fuel System Selection
TheengineofyourHomeGeneratorSystemisfactory
calibratedtorunonnaturalgas(NG).Itmayalsobe
operatedonliquidpropane(LP)vapor.
To configure the fuel system for LP use:
1. LPfuelinletpressuremustbebetween11and14
incheswatercolumn.
. SetAUTO/OFFswitchtoOFF.
3. TurnOFFthemaindistributionpanelcircuitbreaker
sendingpowertotheautomatictransferswitch.
4. Remove15Ampfuse.
5. Changemainjetinfuelmixerfollowinginstruction
sheetprovidedinLPconversionkit.
6. Reinstall15Ampfuse.
7. Turn
ONthemaindistributionpanelcircuitbreakerthat
suppliesutilitypowertotheautomatictransferswitch.
8. SetAUTO/OFFswitchtoAUTO.
9. ResetexercisetimerfollowinginstructionsSetting
Exercise Timer.
Thegeneratorisnowreadytooperateautomaticallyusing
LPfuel.WithafixedmainjetforLPgas,thereisnoneedto
performanyengineadjustmentsforLPoperation.
Initial Start-up (No Load)
Beforeoperatingthehomegeneratororplacingitinto
service,inspecttheentireinstallationcarefully.
Thenbegintestingthesystemwithoutanyelectricalloads
connected,asfollows:
1. Setgenerator’smaincircuitbreakertoitsON(closed)
position.
. Install15Ampfuseincontrolpanel.
3. Setgenerator’ssystemswitchtoAUTO.
4. PushMANUAL OVER-RIDEbuttononcontrolpanel.
NOTE:Whenthehomegeneratorisstartedforthevery
firsttime,itwillrequirethatairinthegaseousfuellinesbe
purged.Thismaytakeafewminutes.
5. DONOTcrankengineformorethan10seconds,then
pausefor10secondstoreduceheatinthestarter.
6. Repeatprocessuntilenginestarts.
7. Listenforunusualnoises,vibrationorotherindicationsof
abnormaloperation.Checkforoilleakswhileengineruns.
8. Letenginewarmupforaboutfiveminutestoallow
internaltemperaturestostabilize.
9. ConnectanRMSACvoltmeterandafrequencymeter
tocheckgeneratoroutputatloadsideofcircuit
breaker.Voltageshouldbe30-40Volts,frequency
shouldbe6.0-6.5Hz.
10. Checkgeneratoroutputbetweenoneofthegenerator
connectionlugsandtheneutrallug,thenbetweenthe
othergeneratorconnectionlugandtheneutrallug.
Inbothcases,voltagereadingshouldbebetween
115-10Volts.
11. PushandholdMANUAL OVER-RIDEbuttononcontrol
panelagainuntilenginestops.
Installation Inspection
Completethe”InstallationChecklist”asyoumakethe
inspection.Ensureallitemshavebeenfilled-inandall
signatureshavebeenobtained.Instructtheownertomail
