About your phone

Congratulations on your purchase of the Nokia 6170 mobile phone.

• Register your phone

Be sure to register your phone at www.warranty.nokiausa.com or call
1-888-NOKIA-2U (1-888-665-4228) so that we can serve you better if
you need to call a customer center or to have your phone repaired.

• Terms

This guide uses certain terms for the parts of the phone and the steps that you
are asked to perform.

Highlighted options on the screen are enclosed within a bar. The selection
keys are used to act on the highlighted option.

Left selection key and Right selection key are used to select the options
on the left and right bottom corners of the screen.

Four-way scroll and selection key is used to navigate through names,
phone numbers, menus, and settings. It is also used to move the cursor up,
down, left, and right when writing text, using the calendar, and in some
game applications. Pressing the key briefly in the middle selects the item in
the bottom center of the screen. The middle of the Four-way scroll and
selection
key is also called the Middle selection key. The top, bottom, left,
and right edges of the Four-way scroll and selection key are also called
the Scroll up, Scroll down, Scroll left, and Scroll right keys.

Select means to press the Left selection key or the Right selection key,
or to press the center of the Four-way scroll and selection key (the
Middle selection key). To select an option, press the selection key below
the menu item on the phone screen.

Call key. Press Call to place a call or to answer an incoming call.

End key. Press End to end a call or to return to the start screen.

• Find information about your phone

An information label under the battery contains the following information:

Model number

Phone type and FCC ID

International mobile equipment identity (IMEI)
