Relay play with two players
★ This function is not supported when the rear panel mode select
switch (MODE NORMAL/DJ) is set to the NORMAL position.
Relay play can be performed by using the supplied accessory control
cord to connect the CONTROL connectors of this player and another
CDJ series CD player (☞ P.12).
¶ Set the auto cue functions of the two players to ON (auto cue (A.CUE)
indicator lights in the display).
¶ If connected to a DJ mixer, set the mixer’s fader control to its center
position.
1. Begin playback on the first player.
2. When the currently playing track ends, the other player
(in standby mode) will automatically begin playback.
3. Set the first player to cue standby at the beginning of the
next desired track.
¶ By repeating these steps, you can perform continuous automatic
relay play between the two players.
¶ By replacing the disc on the waiting player and cueing it to a de-
sired track, an unending variety of tracks can be played.
¶ By setting a cue point on the waiting player, playback can be set to
begin automatically from any point in any desired track (☞ P.34,
“Setting cue points”).
Notes:
¶ Relay play may not occur smoothly if the two players’ audio
output terminals are not connected to the same DJ mixer.
¶ If power is interrupted to the currently playing player, the other
player will automatically begin playback.
¶ Since fader start and relay play require that the same control
connectors be connected in different ways, they cannot be
performed simultaneously.

TEXT/WAVE
WAVE display
★ This function is not supported when the rear panel mode select
switch (MODE NORMAL/DJ) is set to the NORMAL position (re-
placed by CD TEXT display).
The WAVE display portrays a graphic indication of the changes in a track’s
deep beat sounds (e.g., bass drum), thus giving the user a better idea of
breaks and end points in the track. Each track or chapter is expanded or
compressed to fill the entire display range (in 50 steps).
Use the TEXT/WAVE select button to select WAVE display.
¶ The WAVE display will appear together with the start of the track
playback.
¶ By storing a WAVE display on a memory card, the WAVE display will
appear instantly the next time the same track is played (☞ P.40).
¶ While the wave data is being read, attempts to use the search, pause,
jog dial and certain other functions may result in faulty operation.
¶ If a track has little change in its low-frequency beat level, or if a track
has been recorded at a low recording level, the break points may not
display correctly.
CD TEXT display
When playing a CD that supports CD TEXT, disc and track titles will be
displayed. Disc titles of up to 72 characters and track titles of up to 48
characters can be displayed (alpha-numerics and certain symbols only).
Titles exceeding 8 characters will cause the display to scroll.
¶ During display of a disc title, the mark will appear.
Press the TEXT/WAVE select button to select CD TEXT dis-
play (disc and track titles).
¶ If no CD TEXT is recorded, the “NO TEXT” message will be displayed
for about 2 seconds.
