Calibration and Color
Introduction
In this module, you will practice calibrating the IC-301 print controller. You should
perform calibration in the following instances:
• When printouts show color casts
• After machine maintenance or changes in hardware
• When drastic changes occur in ambient conditions, such as in temperature or
humidity
Calibration ensures that your printer will reproduce colors according to the
manufacturer’s standards.
In this module, you will also practice editing spot colors and making corrections to
the gradation curve.

Note: If you are working with European paper stock, follow these instructions for all the
activities in this guide:
- Instead of tabloid-size paper, use A3.
- Instead of letter-size paper, use A4.
- Instead of importing files with the suffix Letter (for example,
Chicken_Letter) from the
training CD, import the corresponding files with the suffix A4 (for example, Chicken_A4).
