Remember that end-of-line termination (100-120 ohms) is necessary on all
individual DMX cable runs. Source lines are all permanently terminated by
integral resistors in each Input Module, and likewise the auxiliary (return) wire
pair of each outgoing station line is terminated in each Output Module. The
transmit (send) wire pair of each station line, however, must be manually
terminated at its final destination receiving device. Most DMX-controlled
equipment incorporates this feature; if not, a suitable terminating plug should be
inserted into the device's pass-thru connector. Ensure that only one terminator
is connected to any one DMX run, otherwise the repeater circuit may become
overloaded.

LED D
ISPLAYS
Basic faultfinding at the system user level is usually confined to observing
the state of LED indicators on the face of the DMXPathfinder LR modules.
These can be scanned quickly to determine whether any problems exist. Under
normal usage with no source or talkback data present, only the eight red
Isolated Power LEDs on the Input Modules and the red Main 5V Status and
green Processor OK LEDs on the Output Modules should be glowing. If a
patch file is active in one or more Output Modules, the Crosspoint OK green
LEDs on those modules will also be illuminated.
When input data is present, the Input Modules' yellow Receive Data LEDs
will illuminate on channels where the data is active. Correspondingly, green
Transmit Data LEDs on the Output Modules will also be illuminated where
those output channels are patched to active input channels, indicating that data
is being sent.
If talkback (return) data is being received at a given Output Module
channel, its corresponding yellow Talkback LED will be on. Likewise, a green
Talkback LED will be illuminated at the Input Module channel that is returning
the talkback data to the host control system.
Notice the consistent use of the three colours? Red typically indicates
power active, or an error condition in one instance. Yellow indicates data being
received with respect to that module, and in one case communication activity
from the personal computer link. Green indicates that data is being transmitted
with respect to that module, and in two instances that certain key components
(processor and crosspoint) are functioning normally.
