Shooting still images/movies
Symptom
Cause
Solution
The subject does not
appear on the screen.
• The FINDER/LCD switch is set to FINDER.
p Set it to LCD (page 22).
The subject is not visible
on the screen.
• The mode dial is set to
or SET UP.
p Set it to other modes (pages 20 and 75).
The image is out of focus.
• The subject is too close.
• The Landscape mode is selected for the Scene
Selection function.
• Manual focus mode is selected.
• [CONVERSION LENS] in the SET UP settings
is set to [ON].
p Record in the macro recording mode. Make sure to position the
lens farther away from the subject than the shortest shooting
distance when shooting (page 24).
p Set it to other modes (page 29).
p Set the FOCUS switch to AUTO/ZOOM (pages 23 and 48).
p Set it to [OFF] (pages 42 and 110).
Zoom does not work.
• [CONVERSION LENS] in the SET UP settings
is set to [ON].
• FOCUS switch is set to MANUAL.

Digital zoom does not
function.
• The digital zoom cannot be used when shooting
a movie (MPEG MOVIE).

• You are shooting a subject with a light source
behind the subject.
• The brightness of the screen is too low.

• You are shooting a spotlighted subject in a dark
location such as on a stage.
• The brightness of the screen is too bright.
p Adjust the exposure (page 49).
p Adjust the brightness of the screen (pages 42 and 112).
Vertical streaks appear
when you are shooting a
very bright subject.
• The smear phenomenon is occurring.
