4 Troubleshooting P9000 Application
Performance Extender
This section describes how to troubleshoot problems that can occur while using P9000 Application
Performance Extender. It also includes tasks that you can perform for specific scenarios.

Problem/Scenario
Ensure the following:

Refresh the host list by clicking Refresh Host List on the Data Collection
screen
•
The management station is accessible from the host
•
The communication agent is running on all the hosts
For HP-UX and Linux hosts, use the following command to verify the
status:
/sbin/init.d/apex_ca status
For a Windows host, verify if the HP StorageWorks APEX Communic-
ation Agent service is running.
•
The communication agent is associated to the correct management
station
•
For HP-UX and Linux hosts, the comagent.conf file located at /
opt/Hewlett-Packard/apex/com_agent/conf
and for Win-
dows, the comagent.ini file located at C:\Program Files\
Hewlett-Packard \apex\com_agent\conf
includes the correct
entry:
• IP address of the management station (in the first line)
•
If the communication agent and management station ports are blocked
by firewall settings, unblock the ports.
Some or all hosts are not dis-
covered during the host discovery
phase.
Ensure that all the installation prerequisites are met.

Unable to start the communication
