Handling a DumpAgain? Indication
The “DumpAgain?” display alternates with a “CHK xxxx” fault symptom code
indication while the Service light flashes. This occurs when the identical “CHK
xxxx” fault symptom code is detected within one minute. The drive then
becomes non-operational and requires manual intervention.
With this condition, the user may choose to take a dump, but there is no
requirement to do so. If the user has reason to take the dump, press any control
except the IPL switch. This saves the dump data to the EEPROM. While the
dump is being saved to the EEPROM, the Service light goes out and the display
alternates between “SavingDmp” and the “CHK xxxx” display. After saving, the
drive automatically IPL’s.
Use the procedures in section 5 to copy the dump data from EEPROM to tape
or a file.
If you do not want to take the dump, press the IPL switch. This performs an IPL
on the tape drive without copying the dump data to the EEPROM.
If the IPL fails, as indicated by any error message, replace the drive.
If the IPL is successful, continue with normal operations.
