Investigating incidents
Smart Search is based on motion metadata that is generated along with the motion-recorded video.
Your system administrator can enable or disable Smart Search on the server. If you are unable to get
any search result, Smart Search might be disabled for the current camera. Contact your system

To perform a smart search, you really only need to select a camera and mark an area of the grid.
However, if you make your search more granular, it becomes easier for you to find the right incident:
1. On the Sequence Explorer tab, select Smart Search
2. In the Select camera... menu, find the camera you want to use for Smart Search:
o
Use the search field to search for a camera name or description, or
o
Navigate to the camera in the list
o
When you select a camera, a preview is shown in the grid view.
3. Use the mouse to select the area where you want to search for motion. You can select more
than one area:
o
Click a single field in the grid to include it.
o
Click and drag inside the image to select the area in which you want to use smart search.
o
Press CTRL-key while dragging to exclude already marked areas
o
Use the Clear button to reset the current grid
o
Use the Invert button to toggle between including and excluding selected areas.
