•
Part I: Overall Operation

Refer to this section for READCENTER system requirements, software installation and additional product information.
READCENTER Software
READCENTER software is a comprehensive data management system that collects and analyzes data from GALAXY’s
automated meter reading system.
•
It receives and stores data so that each day represents a snapshot of the metered service status.
•
Each snapshot includes service address, current meter reading and exception codes.
•
History allows the user to print graphs and calculate consumption.
•
It allows monitoring of meter-level and system-level usage patterns.
•
It links meter consumption data to customer records that billing programs can use to create bills.
GALAXY® Meter Reading System Components
Transmitter
The GALAXY transmitter is an electronic device attached to the meter. It records meter usage and sends the information
in a radio transmission that is read by a GALAXY receiver.
Receiver
A GALAXY receiver (also referred to as gateway) is a reception device that collects data from transmitters. It receives
signals and validates them before forwarding the signal to the READCENTER computer.
•
It is designed to work in an unattended mode.
•
It listens for incoming data from transmitters.
•
It processes and sends data to READCENTER monitor software.
•
Retrieval and review of the data is done through READCENTER software.
