BEFORE YOU PULL
WARNING
Never use the
winch as a hoist.
CAUTION
Never attempt
to disengage the
clutch while rope
is under tension.
Never engage the
clutch while the
drum is rotating.
Always make
sure the clutch is
fully engaged or
disengaged.
WARNING
Always keep hands
and clothing clear of
the rope, hook and
fairlead opening
during operation
and when spooling.
WARNING
Always use sup-
plied hook strap
to hold hook when
spooling rope in
or out.
Practice using your winch
before you winch a load. A real
situation is no time to be learning
how to use your winch.
Knowing the proper winching
techniques can help keep you
and others around you safe. And
perhaps the most important part of
the winching process, regardless of
the situation, is what you do before
you pull. In this section, we’ll show
you the basic fundamentals for
effective winching. However, it is
up to you to analyze the situation
and make the decisions necessary
for the proper use of your winch.
Apply your knowledge of your
winch and the basic fundamentals
you’ve practiced and adjust
your techniques to your unique
situation. Some keys to remember
when using your Warn winch:
1. Always take your time to
assess your situation and plan
your pull carefully.
2. Always take your time when
using a winch.
3. Use the right equipment for
your situation.
4. Always wear leather gloves
and do not allow the rope to
slide through your hands.
5. You and only you should
handle the rope and operate
the remote pendant control
switch.
6. Think safety at all times.
7. Practice. Practice and
practice the steps.
Rigging for the Pull
The following steps describe
how to winch a load with rigging a
single line pull. Double or multiple
line rigging techniques follow the
same basic steps, but use a snatch
block to assist the process.
Step 1: PUT ON GLOVES.
Step 2: DISENGAGE CLUTCH.
To allow free spooling of the winch
drum, rotate the clutch lever on the
winch to Disengage.
Step 3: FREE THE WINCH HOOK
AND ATTACH HOOK STRAP.
Free the winch hook from the load.
Attach hook strap to the hook (if not
attached).

No enganche
nunca el cable so-
bre sí mismo. Esto
lo deterioraría.
No deje nunca el
cable de alimen-
tación enchu-
fado al realizar la
instalación, cuando
se esté haciendo
enrollado libre,
maniobras, manten-
imiento o repara-
ciones o cuando no
se esté usando el
cabrestante.
No accione nunca
el cabrestante si
no hay al menos
5 vueltas de
cable alrededor del
tambor. El cable
podría soltarse del
tambor ya que el
acoplamiento del
cable al tambor
no está construido
para aguantar una
carga.
Paso 4: DESENRROLLE CABLE
HACIA LA CARGA. Desenrolle
sufi ciente cable para llegar a la
carga. Debe haber cierta tensión en
el cable. El cable se puede dañar
si se enreda o se enrolla más de lo
debido al afl ojarlo. Para evitar perder
el extremo, ponga el gancho del
cabrestante en la correa del gancho
mientras usted trabaja.
Paso 5: ASEGURE LA CARGA.
Una vez que haya elegido un
punto de carga, asegure la correa
o la cadena de estrangulamiento
alrededor del objeto o carga.
Paso 6: ACOPLE EL ENGANCHE
EN FORMA DE D Y LA CORREA
DEL GANCHO. Acople el enganche
a los dos extremos de la correa o
la cadena y a través del bucle del
gancho, teniendo cuidado de no
sobretensarla (tense y retroceda
media vuelta).
Paso 7: BLOQUEO DEL
EMBRAGUE. Bloquee el tambor
del cabrestante girando la palanca
del embrague para poder embragar.
Paso 8: ENCHUFE EL CABLE
DE ALIMENTACIÓN DEL
CABRESTANTE. Tenga cuidado
de que ni el cable de alimentación
ni el cable del control remoto se
enreden enfrente del cabrestante.
Desenchufe siempre el cable
de alimentación del cabrestante
cuando no esté en uso.
Paso 9: PONGA EL CABLE EN
TENSIÓN. Utilizando el control
remoto del cabrestante, enrolle
lentamente el cable hasta que esté
completamente tenso. Una vez que
el cable esté tenso, aléjese lo más
posible y no lo pise nunca.
Paso 10: VERIFICACIÓN DE LA
CARGA. Asegúrese de que todas
las conexiones estén aseguradas y
despeje el área de cualquier objeto
antes de continuar con el proceso
de tracción.
Nunca intente
desembragar
cuando el cable
esté en tensión.
No embrague
nunca cuando el
tambor esté gi-
rando. Compruebe
siempre que se
ha embragado o
desembragado
completamente.
