EXTERNAL ENTRAPMENT PROTECTION:
Non-contact and contact sensors must be installed individually or in combination with each other to
provide external entrapment protection.
Care should be exercised to reduce the risk of nuisance tripping, such as when a vehicle trips the sen-
sor while the gate is still moving, and one or more non-contact sensors shall be located where the risk
of entrapment or obstruction exists, such as the perimeter reachable by a moving gate or barrier.
A hardwired contact sensor shall be located and its wiring arranged so that the communication be-
tween the sensor and the gate operator is not subjected to mechanical damage.
A wireless contact sensor such as one that transmits radio frequency (RF) signals to the gate operator
for entrapment protection functions shall be located where the transmission of the signals are not ob-
structed or impeded by building structures, natural landscaping or similar obstruction.
DURING INSTALLATION
x
DISCONNECT POWER at the control panel before making any electric service power connection.
x
Be aware of all moving parts and avoid close proximity to any pinch points.
x
Know how to operate the manual release.
x
Adjust the unit to use the minimum force required to operate the gate smoothly even during mid-
travel reversing.
x
Place controls a minimum of 8 feet away from the gate so that the user can see the gate and oper-
ate controls but cannot touch the gate or gate operator while operating the controls.
x
Warning signs must be placed on each side of the gate or in high-visibility areas to alert of automatic
gate operations.
