Batt ery Charging and Installati on
With the Lithium-Polymer batt eries installed in the batt ery compartment, plug the AC
end of the supplied 5VDC Charger/Power Supply into a standard AC wall outlet. Open the
rubberized access cover on the side of the MasterBelt or BeltStati on and plug the USB end
of the Charger/Power Supply into the USB connector. The Lithium-Polymer batt eries will take
approximately 2¾ hours to charge from completely empty to completely full. This ti me is the
same with the unit turned ON or OFF. A new, fully charged batt ery should power a Tempest
MasterBelt or BeltStati on for approximately nine hours. Fast charging with the supplied fast
charger requires a temperature range of 32° – 113° F.
Batt eries can receive more than 500 charge cycles, and
conti nue to maintain more than 70% of their power rati ng. The
Tempest batt ery indicator will maintain its accuracy as batt ery
life decreases.
Alternati vely, remove the Lithium-Polymer rechargeable batt ery from the unit and insert it into
the opti onal 5-Bay Batt ery Charger. The Lithium-Polymer batt eries will take approximately 2½
hours to charge from completely empty to completely full. See the batt ery charger manual
for additi onal details.
The Tempest MasterBelt and BeltStati on Batt ery Compartment holds either one
Tempest Lithium-Polymer rechargeable batt ery or three standard alkaline AA cells.
Lithium-Polymer batt eries are the primary power source. High quality alkaline AA
cells may be used in situati ons where Lithium-Polymer batt eries are not available or
are not charged. One Lithium-Polymer batt ery comes standard with each Tempest
MasterBelt or BeltStati on. Additi onal Lithium-Polymer batt eries may be purchased.
Contact your dealer or distributor to purchase additi onal batt eries. The Lithium-
Polymer batt eries supplied with your Tempest Wireless system are warranted for 90
days from the date of purchase.
Lithium-Polymer batt eries off er 7+ hours of batt ery life in a MasterBelt and up to
9 hours of batt ery life in a BeltStati on. The batt eries recharge in approximately 2¾
hours.
Lithium-Polymer batt eries ship from the factory with approximately 50% charge. It will not damage the Lithium-Polymer
batt eries to use them without charging them fi rst. This will, however result in shorter run ti me unti l the Lithium-Polymer
batt ery is fully charged. When possible, charge Lithium-Polymer batt eries to full capacity to ensure full batt ery life prior to
use.
Using (3) alkaline AA batt eries can provide up to four hours of batt ery life. Use only high quality alkaline AA cells. This will
provide enough ti me to fully charge the Lithium-Polymer batt ery.
To remove the batt ery door, press down on the thumb markings and pull the batt ery door toward the bott om of the unit.
To remove batt eries from the batt ery compartment, turn the MasterBelt batt ery side down and tap the bott om of the unit
on the palm of your other hand.
Please be careful to insert alkaline AA batt eries according to the marked polarity. All of the alkaline AA cells must be
oriented the same directi on. If the batt ery cover does not close properly, the batt ery may not be inserted correctly.
