Antenna Patt ern
The Tempest MasterBelt and BeltStati on have the same internal patch antenna located
at the top-end of the unit. It is important to understand the antenna propagati on when
determining the locati on of the MasterBelt during operati on. The MasterBelt and
BeltStati on antenna is a linear polarized omnidirecti onal antenna. However, due to its
positi oning at the top of the BeltStati on, the antenna is att enuated at it’s bott om thus
creati ng a directi onal patt ern.
Fixed Locati on
Despite having no external antenna, the
Tempest MasterBelt can be used in the same
manner as traditi onal Tempest BaseStati ons.
However, there could be an impact on the
system’s range depending on the chosen
locati on and orientati on.
When determining a locati on to place the
MasterBelt, use the same approach used
with Tempest BaseStati ons and/or Remote
Transceivers. Be sure that line-of-sight
from MasterBelt to standard BeltStati ons is
maintained for opti mal performance. Any
obstructi ons can cause the RF signal to
become att enuated and diminish range and
performance.
Mobile Operati on
When using the MasterBelt in a mobile applicati on, system range will be less due to body shielding.
